“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of council and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

And he will not delight in the fear of the Lord, nor make a decision by what his ears hear, eyes see, but with the righteousness he will judge the poor, and decide with fairness for the afflicted of the earth; and he will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. Also, righteousness will be the belt about his loins, and faithfulness the belt about his waist.”

Isaiah 11:1-5

The study of Isaiah 11: 1-5 makes us more conscious of God’s will and how we need to be increasingly dependent upon the Holy Spirit in all that we do. We are learning how to avoid the way things distract us from living Christ-like lives. All that we do need for Spirit-Dependent living happens when we become a ‘New Creature’ in Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

It is important that we work on becoming Spirit dependent. In faith we spend time together to be transformed by the Lord. He will use us effectively whatever his purpose is for each one of us. Do you remember how the Lord Jesus called the disciples aside? First, there was the stepping out from the world and then there was stepping into his presence – they both happened simultaneously. If we are doing worldly worship then we cannot be or get close to God. (Galatians 5:16) “This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” Worldly things cause you to lose your desire and passion for the Lord. It goes back to one of our memory verses from Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
